Louis 14th Houses
In 1667, Tournai returned to the obedience to the King of France. The city adopted a Louis 14th style of architecture: This architecture is a compromise between the French style and the local traditions (stone and brick frontage, abandonment of gables, projecting roof, and squaring of the frontage by horizontal string courses that cut across the stone piers).
